12 Mar
Bwlch Nant-yr-arian Two-loops Figure-of-Eight
Leader: Malcolm Tunley
Loop 1: 4 miles (easy) / Loop 2: 5 miles (more strenuous).
The exact routes will be flexible to suit weather conditions on the day and any other factors such as tree felling.
Start times: Loop 1: 10.30 / Loop 2: 14.00
Start location: Bwlch Nant-yr-arian Visitor Centre car park (fee) on A44 10 miles E of Aberystwyth Grid Ref. SN 718 813
If weather conditions are extreme or there are other queries, Malcolm’s contact details are at the foot of this page

The morning loop will start at 10.30 and follow tracks and trails to the north using the ‘Ridge Walk’ towards Llyn Blaenmelindwr and then return via the attractive ‘leat’ route to the visitor centre area for the lunch break. Anyone wishing to opt out at this point can do so, possibly to enjoy the facilities of the visitor centre including the daily kite feeding.

At 14.00 from the visitor centre, we will continue with a longer more strenuous walk, which will go south of the A44 to Bwa Drain. The exact route will depend on conditions on the day but will probably be via Gelli and should give good views of Cwm Rheidol and the return will be via Penrhiwlas.

  • PARTICIPATION: Participants in these walks must be CMS members for insurance reasons.
