CMS MEMBERS’ WALK

MYNYDD MALLAEN with leader Judy Gore

An open moorland walk across the southern part of the area.

Meet, initially, at 10.30 in CILYCWM at the pub (Neuadd Arms), grid ref. 753399.

If needed we will then consolidate car sharing and proceed to park near Cwm Fran-fawr and then head west below Pen Lifau. Next we take the track across Banc Blaendyffryn. We join Rhiw Cilgwyn going west and cross Rhyd Galed and on to Esgair Ferchon. Then east to join Craig Llech-gwynt and on down to Cwm Merchon. Just above Penstacan we rejoin Rhiw Cilgwyn to go west then south and back down
to the road.

Distance is 8 miles fairly energetic with several ups and downs. Great views if the weather is kind. The route can be followed on OS Explorer 187

CMS WALKS

  • PARTICIPATION: Participants in these walks must be CMS members for insurance reasons. If you aren’t a member and would like to participate in a CMS walk, please visit the membership page, where you can join on-line, or print a membership form to bring along on the day, with your subscription payment, and give to a Society official.
  • WEATHER: will influence the nature of the walks and may necessitate changes. Please check with leaders beforehand if you have any queries. Suitable walking gear is essential. Bring a packed lunch and drink.
  • DOGS:  Because of livestock, dogs are not permitted on some walks – please contact leader in advance.  When dogs are permitted they should be kept on a lead unless the walk leader agrees otherwise.
