The guest speakers, both from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David in Lampeter, were Jane Davidson (Director of the Institute for Sustainable Practice, Innovation and Resource Effectiveness) and Professor of Archaeology David Austin. They provided the sixty Cambrian Mountains Society members and guests with a wonderful, informative and entertaining evening. Their talks explored whether unearthing the secrets of Strata Florida can teach us how to live more sustainably in the 21st century, and help in our understanding and future use of the Cambrian Mountains. A question and answer session followed, and might have continued into the early hours, had not Professor David Bateman of CMS intervened with a warm thank-you to the speakers. Discussions continued through the reception which followed, with musical accompaniment from talented local harpist Harriet Earis. A great evening was had by all and it is intended to stage more of these CMS events in the future at different venues in and around the Cambrian Mountains.
