Landscapes for Life conference 2013

Since its formation, CMS has sought the creation of a Cambrian Mountains AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty) as the best way of furthering its objects. Following the launch of its AONB campaign document in 2006, the society has continued to work behind the scenes, taking the message to politicians and others who need to be persuaded of the benefits that will come from designation.

The society is a longstanding member of the National Association of AONBs, whose 2013 annual conference – Landscapes for Life – will be at the University of Suffolk. The conference will focus on water, and the role that UK protected landscapes can play in ensuring its proper management whilst safeguarding the environment for future generations; there will be field trips to the nearby Dedham Vale, Norfolk Coast, and Suffolk Coast and Heaths AONBs.
